PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: P JAM & BIG NARSTIE - GAS

Following on from his excellent Sonic Router x Uncle Albert mix that premiered earlier this year, P Jam is to drop the latest single from his newly-formed Beatcamp imprint on August 20th. Having already worked closely with Shystie over the course of 2012, 'Gas' sees long-time collaborator Big Narstie take to the mic to deliver a dark, gritty and ultimately nostalgic grime cut. Aside from the chorus, Narstie refuses to rely on his now infamous reload style, adding credence to suggestions he is one of the genre's most improved emcees whilst the instrumental is typically low-end, a P Jam hallmark, and genuinely haunting. It is a track of surprising depth too and both should be credited for reverting to grime's older, more conventional blueprint to create something so refreshing and exciting. A great effort.

'Gas' will be available to buy from all good online outlets from August 20th.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: MOONY - PLUCK OFF

Fast becoming a regular feature on Uncle Albert, the ever-versatile Moony is back with his latest release on Tenn Records. Picking up where his 'Close Enough' EP left off, 'Pluck Off' is an ambient 4-tracker showcasing grime's softer side to great effect, as ever oozing refinement and quality throughout.

Title track Pluck Off is probably the roughest on the EP but is far from your typical 140 cut; the introduction is Swindle-esque with the pace firmly dictated by jazzy chords before a solid bass line cuts through the percussion to give the track a real kick. 'My Side', a personal favourite of the 4, is far more-garage inclined in build up but neat vocal sampling is soon interrupted by brilliant, looping eski-style bass where as 'Pace' embarks on a far mellower journey, sampling sweet female vocals with real pizazz; an excellent summer track. As with Close Enough, Moony ends on a dubstep-tinged note with the excellent 'You Changed' adding depth and in turn, further reinforcing his versatility. Still grime's best kept secret? Probably.

Pluck Off was released on 9th July and is available to purchase from ITunes and all other good online outlets.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: MERKY ACE - 'EFF TIZZY'

July 15th sees the much-anticipated latest release from one of grime's most revered young emcees, Merky Ace. 'Eff Tizzy', short for Ace's crew 'Family Tree', is a typically raw, gritty affair with bags of authentic grime swagger, all underpinned by yet another excellent bass-heavy instrumental from the precociously talented Faze Miyake. There are cohesive signs of development here too, with Merky's vocals in particular sounding more polished than previous efforts amidst a definite sense that this is a young emcee relishing his craft. Often referred to as a driving force behind the 'New Wave' of grime talent in 2011, Merky and Family Tree ironically share more similarities with the grime of 2004; raw, uncompromising and genuine, they are a growing in influence and should rightfully be considered one of the genre's biggest assets. Excellent stuff.

'Eff Tizzy' will be available to purchase from ITunes, Amazon and all other good online outlets from July 15th, having already earned heavy rotation from the likes of Cameo and DJ Q. The release with also feature the acapella and 'Cutlass', a track co-produced by Faze Miyake and Teddy Music.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: ZINC X P MONEY | RELOAD

Following a slew of collaborative releases on Rinse Recordings over the last 12 months, P Money is the latest to join forces with Zinc on the crack house-inspired 'Reload'. A hard-hitting club banger with a catchy hook, textbook P Money-isms ('What did he say?' / 'I beat the' / 'P!') and dance floor credentials by the bucketload, Reload is all the more endearing because both are at their crowd-pleasing best. P Money has flourished in his role as Rinse standard bearer over the last year, becoming one of the station's defining voices alongside Katy B in the process and Zinc's recent dance floor endeavours seem to only grow stronger by the track. A potential summer anthem.
